KSP Scripting 1 Mike Novy Castlewood Publishing Castlewood Music 9783839150511 Books

I have no idea why there's a girl in bed wearing no pants on the cover of this book, but it's funny when my friends grab it and flip through the pages to find a reference guide to an obscure scripting language for a software sampler.

So here's the thing. The book isn't exactly fun to read. Nothing really jumps out as special, and compared to beginners books on C++, Java, etc. where the bar is a bit higher for instruction method, it's very mediocre. But that doesn't matter, because you should be grateful that someone actually took the time to write a programming guide for KSP. Heck, if it were in a different language, it would still be better than your other options, misguided forums or Youtube.

So thank you Mike Novy for doing one of the many things that Native Instruments should have done, but decided to leave their customers hanging instead.

The book itself is going to be a bit of a curve if you've never stepped a toe into programming, but if you're an intuitive person, you should be able to get everything out of it that it intends to give. If you doubt your intuition, it might be wise to pick up a small basic programming book that explains how us humans speak to our machines.

Regardless, after a cover to cover and a bit of referencing, you'll be able to make a very nice, professional looking Kontakt instrument.

KSP Scripting 1 Mike Novy Castlewood Publishing Castlewood Music 9783839150511 Books Reviews

This book teaches all details you need for developing in Kontakt's KSP. It is perfect for beginners and pros. The KSP guide is a very handy helper. I can recommend this book to all who are interested in programming own instruments, graphical interfaces, or in tweaking samples.
This is the book to use to learn Native Instrument Kontakt Scripting if you are a musician or a Kontakt instrument developer. What do I like about the book is that he starts with general things and explains steps by steps the idea of scripts. From there, it switches over into more detailed Kontakt scripting. The strengths of this book is the way the author breaks down each script part by use of of examples and screenshots, which makes me feel comfortable.

The KSP guide is a great reference book for beginners and especially for professional KSP users.

I absolutely love this book and I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn KSP.
This book does a great job at tackling the vast world of Kontakt scripting and providing an easy and intuitive approach towards KSP development. Audio enthusiasts and professionals that are familiar with programming (or at least have the will to try and experiment) should definitely give this book a try.
Thank you Mike for comprehensive introduction to KSP scripting.
It is dedicated for Beginner-to-Intermediate programming level.
There are couple of grammatical and typographic mistakes, but careful reader will notice them...
Because there is nothing else regarding the subject, its the best book available there.
